12 inch vinyl only. the first entry into the templar sound white label series comes via sydney savant dro carey. careys n.r. beat is the centrepiece of this vinyl-only release. the track is a menacing hybrid of rapid-fire martial 808s and uncompromising sub-low bass, indebted in equal parts to black ops and mobb deep. grime don j-sweet forges his own uncompromising version turning the instrumental into a brutal piece of 8-bar weaponry guaranteed to cause damage in the rave. the a-side of the record is reserved for a vocal of the n.r. beat by south londons merky ace with the mc riding the track with ease, his vicious flow effectively kept in check by careys brooding instrumental.

after the tense and dramatic soundscapes of jason letkiewiczs nzambi lp under his soundtrack guise alan hurst, emotional response have put the tracks to the test for three appropriately oddball remixers. fellow l.i.e.s. affiliate terekke turns out a heavily sedated dub of >nzambi< that rides a pacey house beat but buries everything in delay and reverb. timothy j fairplay brings some serious sleazy 80s electro tones to >parallel sensations<, complete with predatory vocal and thick ladles of synthy goodness. finally, jonas reinhardt cools off the intensity with a blissful ambient version of >before the dawn< which plunges headfirst into a warm bed of melodic drones.

total control dislocate expectations with this inaugural home loan records 12 inch. not the charged up paranoid vox/guitar/drums combo that we have become accustomed to through their visceral live shows - instead men with machines producing pensive proto-tech experiments and tense industrial wave. includes the original version of carpet rash which was re-recorded in full band mode for henge beat, and two previously unreleased immersive rhythm tracks formed through collaboration between guitarist mikey young and drummer james vinciguerra. vinciguerra would fire deranged beats down the hole while young would jam over them, watching waves in a trance from his perch at phillip island. on the flip we find two reconstructions from home loan manager michael ozone. carpet rash receives the club re-contextualisation with ozone fully utilising its penetrating synth hook, while new age hop climbs the arabic scale.

after their sure-fire succession of great releases dam swindle end up on the excellent freerange imprint. and if you like the words deep along with atmospheric then this will most definitely appeal to you. from the opening title track with its lush, moody nu-groove styled pads and thunderous hand-claps these three productions simply ooze class and intensity in abundance. next is >gotta know< which rewinds back to classic house sounds and injects a sense of melody into the already swinging rhythms and punchy, detroit bass. which is then followed by >brotherman< and yet more in-depth moods, this time accompanied by jazzy, scat styled vocals for added diversity. finally we have wolf music main man krl stepping up to remix brotherman and a rather sterling job he does to. making great use of the vocal krl brings us a slowed down version with his trademark shuffling drums and a dynamic arrangement. piano stabs and a cheeky boogie synth sample all help bring his own sound to the track and round off the package perfectly.
